Checking up on essentials

After my blog yesterday, I thought I ought to follow some of my own advice. I needed milk and as usual, I bought six litres at a time, I needed porridge and bought a kilo, I needed pasta and bought £1's worth and was frustrated that there was only one jar of 22p lemon curd left! Really Tesco's - pull yourself together. There are fewer and fewer 'value' products now and I get the feeling that they won't be around for long.

For supper tonight, we have veggie chilli, made with soya, a cup of rice each and some salad. It really was as good as it looks.

I'm also water meter monitoring. From the 21/01/2011 - 20/02/2011, we used 6 cubic metres of water. We then used a huge amount over the half term holiday as everything was washed, including my son and daughter's washing and between the 20/02/2011 and today (eleven days!) we used an almighty 4 cubic meters of water. This shows me that the area I really need to be mindful of is laundry. Next month, I hope to get back to a much more frugal 4 cubic meters. It just shows, that my huge bill over Christmas, was from being hospitable, laundering every one's clothes, bedding and towels and doing far more laundry than usual.

Until tomorrow,

Froogs.
