Happy Thansgiving! plus Black Friday Shopping Info

I'm a little homesick at the moment.

As a Denver girl living in Australia I do quite enjoy the beach and the warm weather, but when it gets to be this time of year I miss having the autumn and the leaves changing and the football on tv and the kids going back to school.

Not to mention hanging with the fam, getting up early for the Black Friday shopping deals, watching the Macy's Parade and eating every little bit of turkey and pumpkin pie in sight.

**Sigh**

Just writing about it makes me kinda sad. See Australians don't celebrate Thanksgiving (obviously it being an American holiday) and it is now our springtime here, and good luck finding a pumpkin pie or a turkey in the grocery stores here..

So in honor of my upbringing, here is a shout out to all my expat friends out there feeling lonely in other countries, and a great big hug to all my American friends and family. Eat lots of turkey for me!!

Gold Coast Summer Style: Floaty pretty little dresses

The weather is getting warmer here on the Coast, and that means 1 thing: the skin is coming out. The Gold Coast is known for its abundance of women in skimpy bikinis on the beach and in skimpy dresses in the clubs, but there is another aspect to our dress code here in this sunny holiday destination.

See we live in floaty little dresses, as they are the best way to beat the heat while also showing a bit of style. The two below are from one of my favourite stores: Dissh.

I found it at Sportsgirl yesterday on the sale rack - for get this - $39.00!! Ummm, yes, run don't walk ladies because the sizes will be gone very soon!

Fashion on the Go

For those of you like me who have to work a full time job and don't have quite so much time to live at the shops to find out what's new all the time, I have discovered a lifesaver.
Using the style.com i phone app or website I can see all the newest runway shows and current fashion trends as they happen, meaning that when I do get  a chance to get out there I can narrow my focus to look for say military style rather than just hope something catches my eye.
Team that with the new Sportsgirl mobile friendly website or a  Forever New app on your phone and you never have to leave the office to fulfill all your shopping needs!

local markets

I looove shopping the local markets, not only are you supporting local designers, but you are also getting one of a kind, usually hand made stuff that you just couldn't find anywhere else. And I know markets are sometimes hit and miss what with all those old ladies selling crocheted pot holders, I have found a really good one. The Village Markets are on at Burleigh Heads State School the first Sunday of every month, and they have the coolest, funkiest young designer and vintage stands, you have to check them out if you live anywhere near the Gold Coast...

Hey all if you haven;t heard of Etsy, then you are definitely missing out. Go right now to the website and check it out, I often spend hours and hours there looking at beautiful things. Its a site where you can buy handmade items from all around the world, and although some of the stuff is a bit how ya going, most of it is unique and well made and gorgeous, definitely something you wouldnt have to worry about seeing someone else wearing as you walk down the street...
