Nick Verreos and Stylist Jen Rade Do It Again On TV Guide's The Fashion Team "What's The Fashion"!

What's The Fashion Fashionistas???
What A Couple: Fashion Designer Nick Verreos and Stylist/Costume Designer Jen Rade, TV Guide Network's "The Fashion Team" TV Show

This last weekend, my favorite stylist-fashion-expert-in-crime---Stylist/Costume Designer Jennifer Rade--and I, were at it again bringing you what was "Hot" and "Not So Hot" in the week's Red Carpet Celeb World for our weekly "What's The Fashion" segment for TV Guide Network's "The Fashion Team".

On the set while filming, my co-host, Jen ,was perfection, wearing a silk georgette bias-cut cowl-necked number and her luscious curly locks. And I, well, I was giving you "mini" bow-tie.

Our "The Fashion Team" host, Lawrence Zarian was in NY with his besties--Regis & Kelly--so we had to fend for ourselves. We had lots of fun giving our "Fashion Two Cents" on Cher, Christina Aquilera, Debi Mazar and Julianne Moore.

No such thing as the wrong weather!

-5C outside (23F) and 15C (59F) inside! 18C (64.5F) in my heated lounge
There's no such thing as the wrong weather, just the wrong clothes. Before anyone mentions it; I haven't put on five kilos, just five jumpers. Tonight, I am wearing. Leggings, trousers over the top, long back covering vest, long sleeved tee-shirt, roll neck jumper, jumper, cardigan, wooly light weight scarf and cotton scarf over the top. I was watching the news when Dearly Beloved snapped me with the dogs. They love a blanket snuggle too. I have lots of Whitney blankets, all of which were £1 each, either from the local car boot sale or Salvation Army shop. I have one round me now as I type in my office and one drapes over the office chair to keep my back warm.

Don't worry about me! I'm as warm as toast!

Willow Smith - Whip My Hair

All Eyes on Willow Smith

Did I miss something! I think being focused on the older crowd of Fashionates blinded me from noticing Will & Jada Pinkett Smith kid Willow Smith..
I'm a lil shocked she's only just 10 and she's been to Milan Fashion Week with her mum appeared in Magazines and in Movies alongside her Dad Will Smith in 'I am Legend' and now created a hype around her style, which is very punk 80s mixed with current Season Trends. Her Style is quite similar to Rihanna, a mini version.
Sorry I just Cant get over the fact she's 10, I was playing with my Barbies didn't even know what Fashion shows were!

Oh and did I forget to mention she also a singer, Willow single 'Whip My Hair' landed 11# place in the Billboards making her the youngest Solo Artist in History, she's now being signed on by Jay-Z's record label Roc Nation. Hmm same label as Rihanna I wonder if a duet would happen, imagine the Hair Styles in that Video. The Smiths must be very Proud!!!

Alexa Chung Stars in US Reality Show: Thrift America

One of our Favourite Fashion IT Girls Alexa Chung is in New York shooting for the New US Reality Fashion show :Thrift America... A series about shopping for vintage clothes and other paraphernalia - New York Times posts.

Its not the first time Alexa filmed for American Tv, her show for MTV 'Its On with Alexa Chung' was cancelled after the 2nd Season... I quite liked that show. Anyway that didn't mess up her reputation, since then Mulberry designed a bag after her and Alexa is seen in all the Magazine and Fashion Events...

"She's become the Kate Moss for this new generation," Jane Keltner de Valle, the fashion news director for Teen Vogue explained to the New York Times

Nick Verreos Figure Skating Fashion Blog UniversalSports.com: Grand Prix of France/Trophee Eric Bompard!

Bonjour France!

French Figure Skater Brian Joubert skating his Short program at Trophee Eric Bompard before pulling out of the Free Program as a result of gastroenteritis

I can't believe it's almost over! Well, the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Finals, that is. We've "traveled" the entire Globe--Japan, China, Russia, Canada and the United States--in search of the top figure skaters in the world. As well as in search of the best and not-so-best Figure Skating Costumes.

This last weekend was the Trophee Eric Bompard in France, the last stop before the Final Grand Prix in Beijing China (it's in two weeks!). Of course, I was watching to see who would make the final cut and eventually go to Beijing, but naturally, I was also watching for the costumes and for my UniversalSports.com Figure Skating Blog.

I also especially LOVE the Grand Prix of France because they always have the MOST FABULOUS "Kiss-and-Cry" section! They make Russia's--and every other Grand Prix for that matter--look as if they're in someone's Trailer Park! Leave it to the French: Always Chic. Here are some (Costume) highlights from this past weekend: Once again, there were a few Costume Changes. Check it all out below:

US Figure Skater Mirai Nagasu's Costume Changes

Memoirs of a Pretty Skate:
Another Change in Costume! What is happening? Are these ladies actually reading my comments here on UniversalSports.com? (I privately hope so!). I like this new costume: It’s young, fresh; love the bright white color and the delicate youthful flower detail. However (you know that was coming), I wished that the skirt would have been a lighter more flowy chiffon or georgette fabric.

US Figure Skater Alyssa Czisny's Costume Changes

Color Genius:
At first glance, I actually thought Alyssa Czisny’s costume was a brand-new costume. But soon enough I realized “Oh wait, it’s the SAME costume!” but she did something really unique. She added a splash of hand-painted color and Voila: New costume! I think it’s actually quite genius of her (or her people) to have done that. I call this “New Costume for the Economic Recession!” I liked the costume before but now, I LOVE it!

Japan's Haruka Imai at Grand Prix of France/Trophee Eric Bompard

Kismet On Ice:
Haruka Imai’s colorful costume, in which she skated to the Polovetsian Dances, or better known for its “Stranger In Paradise” melody, was a little over the top I thought. It may have been a bit too literal for me. I liked the intricate top but lose the “car wash” fringed skirt and tacky arm bands. Along with her flailing arm movements, those two things didn’t help.

Fumie Suguri's Costume: From Bad to Good...or Bad to Worse???

See what I thought about Japan's Fumie Suguri Costume Re-do--plus all the other costumes from Grand Prix of France

Keeping warm on a limited budget

We are much warmer than the rest of the UK. Down south in Cornwall, we rarely get it this cold and we've been -2 at the warmest today!!! It is a challenge to stay warm in this weather. A lot of people like me will be doing what they can to keep warm. We were advised by the central heating engineer, to have the boiler set on the lowest setting and the radiators set of the highest setting. Boiler is on 1 and the rads are on 9 and the house is 18 degrees. What warmth we have needs to stay in. If you have spare blankets, shut the curtains and then hang a blanket over the curtain rail to form another thickness to your curtain. Hang a blanket or another curtains over the doors. We've lightly nailed curtains to our glass internal doors. I'll worry about the holes and fill them with wood filler in the spring. For now, the need is warmth and not looks.
I'm upstairs working in my office and to stop the warmth being wasted, I bring a flask with me and then I don't have to keep opening the door. I also only boil the kettle once. I don't have lovely homemade blankets, but I do buy whitney blankets in the charity shop. I have one over the back of my office chair and one across my lap. I'm certainly not cold.
I've stopped up all the draughts with draught excluders. I don't have any thing as posh at the one below, I use folded old curtains or folded old towels. They stop the air flow just the same.
One thing we can afford plenty of, is homemade soup. Tonight we had the remainder of the gammon with some chips and beans, but we always have soup to defrost.
Tonight, our heating will be on for three hours and we need to make sure we keep the house warm all night. Even double glazing is not that brilliant as insulation, so you need to do a lot to stop the warmth escaping. If you don't have spare curtains, then use old cardboard to form another barrier inside. If you have a spare duvet, put that under your bottom sheets to insulate underneath your body as well as one of top.

The gas bills will go up in the new year, whilst we are paying for this quarter, so be aware of the 7% increase, which will have 20% VAT on it too, so our bills will increase by one quarter. Hence if your bill is usually £100 a quarter, it will now be £125 a quarter!!!

I'm not suggesting that anyone allows themselves to be chilly for the sake of saving money, but if you have heated your home, do what ever you can to keep it warm and yourselves warm. Finally, one room living is the answer, if like us, you're just a couple without children. We've warmed (taken the edge off!) all of the house, but we heat the one room we are in. We use our oil filled radiator, it cost us about £25 (Argos) and it really warms a room to the point of being cosy. It is very cheap to run. You can wheel it from room to room. Ours is in our living room, where we eat, read, knit and 'hunker down' in this cold weather. What is everyone else doing to keep warm without breaking the bank?
