Week in Review: Crown Princess Mette-Marit, 3-9 April

Here's what Mette-Marit wore from 3-9 April:

  1. Welcoming the Lituanian President for a state visit, 5 April. I love the little hats she perches on the back of her head. There's a lot of CPs that couldn't make that simplicity work, but she does. I'm also very glad she stuck a flower on this, so it doesn't look totally winter-logged and out of place in April.
  2. State dinner, 5 April, repeating the dress that debuted at Crown Princess Victoria's wedding last year. Still love the dress. The small scale of her wedding tiara is making me long for the tiara she wore last time, though.
Of course, she couldn't wear that tiara, as Queen Sonja had already snatched it up. I like it better with M-M's intrcate tiara hair. It just looks like the fancy-pants spikes of a fence, peeking out from behind Sonja's hair like that.
Also, for those of you that have posted your pining for a revival of flapper fashion, Princess Astrid and her bandeau tiara would like you to know that they are on it. And so is Tatiana Santo-Domingo. Be careful what you wish for.

Week in Review: Crown Princess Mette-Marit, 16-22 January

Here's what Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore the week of 16-22 January:

  1. a, b, and c) New pictures released from the family's travels for Ingrid Alexandra's 7th birthday, 21 January. Good traveling outfits, nothing much to see here.
  2. a, b, c, d) New official photographs released, 22 January; e) the Valentino gown on the runway.
A week of photographs that aren't actually from this week, but we'll go with it since it's been a while since we've seen Mette-Marit. No new gowns on display for the official pictures, but it is nice to see these repeats in a posed manner - all the better for the details.

And hey, look what's back:
Quite the selection, there, Queen Sonja. Now we know the layers are alternating pleats, lace AND ruffles. The full trifecta for this ruffled wonder.

Week in Review: Crown Princess Mette-Marit, 13-19 June

Here's what Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore the week of 13-19 June:

  1. Arriving in Stockholm for the wedding, 17 June. The rest of the family travelled by plane but Mette-Marit here came by train because she's afraid of flying.  And that's not the only cute thing about her: this is a perfect traveling outfit for a princess-on-the-go.
  2. Wedding rehearsal, 17 June.  Have to say I would have preferred she stick with the train gear.
  3. Private wedding dinner at Drottningholm, 17 June. Fabulous dress of the weekend #1.
  4. Wedding luncheon hosted by the King at Sturehof Castle, 18 June. This scarf and cardigan combo is adorable, and the turquoise jewelry adds great color.  Unfortunately she brought along the navy windbreaker you see her holding there and put it on later, ruining the whole thing.
  5. Pre-wedding dinner and concert, 18 June.  Fabulous dress of the weekend #2.
  6. Crown Princess Victoria's wedding, 19 June. Fabulous dress of the weekend #3.  Best dressed of all the wedding guests?  Discuss.
Best and Worst of the Week

It's the tiara.  It speaks to me.  So does the white dress, but all that's saying is "Don't look at me!"  Or maybe that's the cardigan and the brown trim on the purse speaking.

2010 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Fashion: Who Wore What? Fergie

Fergie in Emilio Pucci Spring 2010

When Fergie first stepped onto the 2010 Grammys Red Carpet, my first intuition was to say "Oh Dear". However, after a sip of my red wine, this mini Royal Blue and Gold number from designer Peter Dundas' "sizzling sexy Spring collection" for the House of Emilio Pucci, grew on me. I really loved this collection, which was full of micro-short dresses and wonderfully chic separates all the supermodels would love. And now, also, all the "Super Singers" like Miss Fergie. The gold padded detail was a bit "space-age-y" but hey, compared to what Lady Gaga wore, this is very "down-to-Earth" kiddies.
